(Patria) - Members of the Viennese Operational Group for Combating Street Crime today arrested five individuals linked to the smuggling and resale of large quantities of narcotics, who are mostly from the Balkans.
Following a multi-month investigation, members of the Viennese police first arrested a 57-year-old in Wien-Ottakring, in whose apartment several kilograms of various narcotics were found. He is suspected of having been reselling drugs on the streets of Vienna for a long time.
After the arrest of the 57-year-old, his closest associates were also identified. Thus, the police immediately arrested four Serbian citizens, aged 25 to 29, who were procuring and distributing drugs not only in Vienna but also in other parts of Austria.
During the search of the premises where the arrested individuals were staying, 2.3 kilograms of heroin, 30 types of drug substitutes, about five kilograms of marijuana, and 12 kilograms of a mixture used to dilute narcotics were found. In addition to drugs, about 4,500 euros in cash were also found. All of them have been detained, and the investigation is ongoing as the police believe this is only part of a gang dealing with much larger quantities of narcotics.
