Flares and smoke bombs in the Serbian Parliament: Injuries reported, student protests outside the building, session continues

(Patria) - Incidents occurred during the regular spring session of the Serbian Parliament - fighting, smoke bombs thrown, flares... The session's agenda was supposed to include 62 items, including amendments to the Law on Higher Education, a proposal for a law on housing loans for young people, and a vote on the dismissal of Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić.

ZLF submitted a proposal to discuss only the Law on Higher Education during the session, but the proposal was rejected. Miroslav Aleksić announced that "the opposition has noted the resignation of the Government".

After 11 AM, smoke bombs were activated in the parliamentary hall, and flares were lit, while the opposition unfurled a banner reading "Serbia Rises for the Regime to Fall".

Government MPs are responding to the opposition with shouts of "Ustaše" and holding Serbian flags.

They are throwing water bottles at each other, and one female MP was hit in the head. The hall is full of smoke.

Brnabić can barely speak due to the smoke and is calling on the majority MPs to return to their seats, stating that the parliament will continue to work.

Brnabić accuses the opposition and claims they are Albin Kurti's favorites.

"You can only kill us to prevent us from working," she says to the opposition.

Three female MPs requested medical assistance.

Students have blocked the intersection of Bulevar kralja Aleksandra and Kneza Miloša, where they are holding a protest. At the same time, a large number of MPs have left the hall in the Serbian Parliament and are now in the lobby, reports Nova.rs reporter.
