(Patria) - Croatian Defence Minister Ivan Anušić commented yesterday on the security situation in the region, emphasising that Croatia is closely monitoring political developments in BiH, Serbia and Kosovo.
- We are closely observing all political events, not only in BiH, but also in Kosovo and Serbia. However, we see that they are also being monitored by international political and military forces, such as NATO and the United Nations.
The NATO Secretary General also visited Sarajevo and sent certain messages. I am confident that NATO and international policy will not allow the situation to develop as it did 25 or 30 years ago, but that it will be controlled and will not head in an undesirable direction - said Anušić.
When asked by journalists whether he believes there should be no escalation of conflict and war tensions in the neighbourhood, he expressed hope for the preservation of stability.
- I sincerely hope not - Anušić replied briefly.
