Serbian Embassy in the US had to justify itself because of Dodik

(Patria) - The Serbian Embassy in the US announced, regarding the statement by the leadership of the Helsinki Commission which, among other things, states that Serbia and Russia, by supporting the President of RS Milorad Dodik, enable his hostility towards the constitutional order of BiH, that Serbia decisively rejects any accusation or implication that it has acted contrary to the interests of regional peace and stability.

"Such claims are factually incorrect. Serbia has been and remains one of the most consistent and loyal proponents of stability, dialogue, and cooperation in the Western Balkans," the statement from the Serbian Embassy published on the social network X reads.

As added, "As one of the signatories and guarantors of the Dayton Peace Agreement, Serbia has responsibly and with restraint fulfilled its obligations for years, and continues to do so today, always advocating for the preservation of peace and the integrity of the agreement framework".

"Serbia continues to unequivocally support the territorial integrity of BiH. At the same time, we emphasize the importance of respecting all elements of the Dayton Agreement – including the constitutional competencies of the two entities of BiH and the rights of its three constituent peoples. Including those of RS. These are not abstract principles, but legally binding foundations for state governance and long-term stability," the statement emphasizes.

It is also stated that Serbia recognizes and appreciates the attention that international partners, including some in the US, pay to the Western Balkans region.

As added, Serbia is committed to continuing cooperation with all actors in the US based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the principles of peace and agreement-based governance.

We remind that the leadership of the US Helsinki Commission condemned the "destabilizing and secessionist actions" of RS President Dodik, stating that they risk provoking inter-ethnic conflict in BiH.

Stating that Dodik's "efforts to defy, annul, and replace BiH institutions within RS represent a direct attack on the sovereignty of BiH and respect for the agreement on preserving the country's territorial integrity," the Commission further claims that "Dodik's open hostility towards the constitutional order of BiH is enabled by the support of Russia and Serbia," reports Tanjug.
