Albanian and German caught driving 100 km/h over the speed limit on Croatian highway

(Patria) - Krapina-Zagorje police reported on two drivers who were driving at speeds of 221 km/h and 230 km/h on the Croatian A2 highway on Tuesday.

"Around 7:30 AM, police officers from the Krapina Traffic Police Station, using an interceptor vehicle, detected a violation of the speed limit on the A2 highway in Sveti Križ Začretje.

They stopped a car driven by a 26-year-old citizen of Albania at a speed of 221 km/h in a section of the road where the speed limit is set at 130 km/h by a traffic sign," announced the Krapina-Zagorje Police Department.

On Tuesday around 4:30 PM, police officers with an interceptor vehicle, on the A2 highway in Krapina, detected a violation of the speed limit and stopped a motorcycle driven by a 57-year-old German citizen at a speed of 230 km/h in a section of the road where the speed limit is set at 130 km/h by a traffic sign.

Both drivers were issued mandatory misdemeanor orders for violations of Article 54 of the Road Traffic Safety Act.

In addition to a fine, they face a driving ban in the Republic of Croatia: a one-month ban for the 26-year-old (Category B) and a one-month ban for the 57-year-old (Category A), the police announced.

"We warn drivers to respect speed limits and behave responsibly in traffic, taking care of themselves and other road users, especially the most vulnerable groups of road users," warned the police.
