Abazović praises Vučić: His PR strategy is top-notch, relations are friendly!?

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of Montenegro in technical mandate, Dritan Abazović, stated that the assessments that the President of Serbia manages anything in Montenegro are unserious, adding that his relationship with Aleksandar Vučić, as well as with other officials in the region, is correct and friendly.

“I am constantly attacked that Vučić manages something here, I dismiss such things, I consider them unserious. My relationship with Vučić is very correct, friendly. My relationship with other people in the region is the same. With some very friendly, with some correct, but there is no communication breakdown with any prime minister or president in the region,” he said in an interview with Vijesti.

Abazović added that it is the obligation of the Prime Minister of Montenegro, whoever he may be, to foster good relations with people in the region, and as he said, he is glad that he has relations with Vučić, with the Prime Minister of Albania, Kosovo, and with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH that every Prime Minister of Montenegro should have.

“Whether we like a certain political option in the region is not our concern and is a concern for our citizens. We have sovereign power, we respect others in the same way, and that’s it. All this talk about Vučić, I think, is in the context of creating some negative political narrative about me personally,” he said.

He added that the perception of Aleksandar Vučić's influence in Montenegro is overestimated.

“If someone wants to say that we should have bad relations with the Republic of Serbia, just because it doesn’t suit Milo Đukanović, I don’t accept that as a good thing for Montenegro,” he said.

To the claims that his PR strategy resembles the one that Vučić has been promoting continuously in Serbia, Abazović said that it “makes no sense”.

“Because his PR strategy, in my humble opinion, is top-notch, and we are very far from anything that would be a top-notch PR strategy. That is my answer in a humorous tone,” he said.
