Halilagić: Some only talked, we are working and building

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton (TK) Irfan Halilagić commented today in a Facebook post on the construction projects initiated by the TK Government, which he heads. "The Government building, Campus - unlike years of talk and inaction - are being built. For ten years we watched the ruins in the center of Tuzla. For ten years, the burnt site was not cleaned. For ten years, nothing was done on the Sodaso building. When work began, at the first difficulty, they 'roared' and started creating structures. Not construction ones, but structures of untruth and spin. Yesterday, transparently and publicly, we presented and explained to the citizens the problems we encountered and why the pace of work has slowed down. Stripped of technical terminology and in the language of an ordinary person, it all comes down to one thing: safety - wrote Halilagić. After the building was stripped bare and after the annex was demolished, on which a new part is to be added along the entire height of the building, two unforeseen challenges were observed: • the problem of overlapping piles of the existing building with the piles of the planned new extension; • the issue of the statics of the existing building, which could not be observed before the building was completely "stripped bare". "And safety, according to this Government's understanding, is equal to responsibility. The Government acted responsibly and engaged the University of Tuzla to conduct research and prepare an expert report on the building's statics with recommendations for further activities. All of that is behind us. Due to all of the above and many, many other obstacles, we have lost a few months, we have had a significantly slowed pace of work, but we have remained determined and responsible to ensure the job is done according to the rules and regulations of the profession, so that the 'Novi Sad case' is not repeated. The public should know that the work done so far has cost and has been paid for in the amount of 446,763.17 KM. Therefore, no one has taken 11 million KM (the cost of the entire project) and disappeared from the construction site as some wanted to portray. Another important thing, all key actors of this project - the designer, the audit, the contractor, and the supervisor - were chosen through legal procedures and public tender bidding, and as such, they are not the will, desire, or any interest of the investor, i.e., the ministry and the Government. Therefore, we expect and insist that all the aforementioned actors behave extremely responsibly and professionally, in accordance with the signed contracts and procedures," stated Prime Minister Halilagić. He adds that he attached photos from the construction site of the University of Tuzla Campus to his Facebook post. "Amphitheaters are growing out of the ground there, even faster than some planted trees in the same location. Conclusion: the Government building, the Campus, amphitheatres and faculties (as well as many other facilities) are being built. Some only talked about it. Sometimes, it was only dreamed about," concluded Halilagić.
