President of Social Democratic Party of BiH Nermin Niksic thinks of Brexit as the greatest shock since the EU inception, it is stated in today's SDP's press release.
- It is too soon to talk about consequences with precision, but there is a great likelihood of future political shocks and even financial crises. I truly hope that the existing power in BiH will not consider using the decision of citizens of Great Britain as an excuse to stall and not do anything, but to get on with work and start doing whatever the citizens expect them to do.
It is the high time for BH government, which for the basis of its politics has the expectation that the international community will always give in to their requests and do their work for them, to quit deceiving the citizens and start working to their benefit, and not its own.
They have to quit making decisions behind closed doors as those decisions are related to the future of the country, as well as to run the EU accession process in a transparent manner. They have to include the opposition, NGOs and academic community into that process.
The roadmap of BiH to EU mustn't be doubted as it represents achieving high and clearly set standards that, unfortunately, our country does not meet as yet. We are all responsible to do our utmost to meet those standards, mostly for our own sake and not only for the sake of EU, Niksic says in his statement.
