In the light of disciplinary action taken against the Chief Prosecutor, Goran Salihovic, by the Office of Disciplinary Prosecutor of the High Judiciary and Prosecutor Council of BiH, Salihovic made a statement:
- I refuse all the allegations. Nothing from the complaint is correct, it is all a setup. The reason for the investigation is the fact that I started one (investigation) against Milorad Dodik whereby, for the first time in history, he was subpoenaed to the Prosecutor's Office.
- He clearly said yesterday that he was behind the referendum. It wasn't possible before, the case was opened 20 days ago and we are working on it, Salihovic explained.
The Chief Prosecutor Salihovic denies that, as the Chief Prosecutor, he stalled some investigations against some high officials, particularly those from the RS.
- I have never stalled anything. In the case of Bobar Bank, the indictment will be issued on Wednesday. We have been awaiting some information from Croatia through the Institute of International Legal Aid. As for Pavlovic Bank, we are also expecting information as we are working with 5 international legal aid agencies, from the US to Serbia. We are waiting for the answers so that we can continue working on it.
- Nothing has been closed. Considering other court cases such as 'Spiric' (Spiric's purchase of an apartment in Vienna) and 'Gold' (charges against Dodik that he was bribed in Russia with a kilo of gold), those are incorrect allegations, Salihovic said.
The Chief Prosecutor said that the only reason for the request for his suspension is his subpoenaing Dodik.
Salihovic emphasized that he is sure that all his decisions are correct and that he is not afraid of any proceeding by the state prosecution, as it will be established that everything has been done in accordance with the law.
- I would like to emphasize that the Prosecutor's Office is under big political pressures, which constitute a misuse of certain individuals in the offices for political purposes, and that the Chief Prosecutor will shed more light on it in the next period of time. The citizens will then learn the kind of political and institutional pressures I have been talking about, in relation to the attempt at discrediting the chief prosecutor. The fact that secret proceedings have been requested, supports my claim of a setup.
The Chief Prosecutor will soon come forward with more information.
