Later today, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science will organize a celebratory event in Mostar for the best students of the elementary and secondary schools in Federation Bosnia and Herzegovina for the school year 2015/2016. The best students will receive awards for their achievements.
BH cantonal ministries of education have nominated 3 top students from each secondary school respectively, with an exception of the ministry of education from the West Herzegovina Canton.
So today, a total of 54 students from elementary and secondary schools will receive diplomas and financial awards at the celebratory event in Mostar by the federal minister for education and science, Elvira Dilberovic (SDA) joined by the relevant cantonal ministers.
This may seem a good news in this gloomy political reality of ours. Unfortunately, the politics has deeply penetrated into every segment of the society, including the education, which should by its purpose and the definition – remain at a far distance from the politics. To a great surprise of all those who follow the progress of the BH youth, the most successful students will not be present among the award winners today! Those who won gold and silver for BiH at the world and European competitions in mathematics and physics, and who were the reason for BiH to have its anthem played and flag raised at most prestige world competitions.
In the past, the awards at the events such as the one in Mostar, were usually given to those who brought back home awards from the world competitions.
The criteria seem to have changed. Actually, we don't know the criteria.
Today, the federal ministry of education will not give one single award to the students from Bosnia SEMA schools, even though they are the winners of the world medals for math and physics.
The list of recipients of awards, for example, does not include a young man who won 2 silver medals at the world competitions in physics, and who has subsequently gone to study at the American MIT.
The politics has gone too far – it is now openly pushing young people out of the country as it, evidently, does not need experts. In a few years, we will be writing about some of those children and youngsters getting awards in the US, Sweden, Germany...
As Patria has followed every such competition, providing detailed coverage of the successes of BH students, we will reveal the names of those who have impressed the world but not their own country – only because they go to Bosna SEMA schools!
The winners of numerous medals in math and physics at the international Olympic games, those who are now students at the top world universities are: Bahrudin Trbalic, silver, IphO (European to 20), Nermedin Dzekovic, silver, IphO (top 20 in Europe), Salko Zlatko Lagumdzija, bronze, IMO, Brown University, Neira Kurtovic, bronze, IMO, Oxford University, Adisa Bolic, bronze, IMO, the 4th grade of the International High School.
These students are the best in Bosnia and Herzegovina, yet the politics has decided to interfere without their knowledge, against their will to remain in BiH and contribute to its development. Who has the right to push 'the brains' out of BiH, who has the right to insult the professors without any criteria, or the future of BiH only to please the politics?
Minister Dilberovic, please tell us how you plan to stand before Bahrudin, Neira, Adisa and others and explain your doing. What have they done so you had to erase them from the list of the deserving? Who are you to take away from them the award, while the world marvels at their success?
