The Association of Independent Intellectuals 'Circle 99' hosted yesterday Azem Vlasi, longtime prominent official of former Yugoslavia.
Main topic of yesterday's session was 'How to overcome challenges of the regional (in)stability?
Vlasi said that civil society can contribute a great deal towards achieving peace and stability in the region.
- We believe that, besides governments and their politics, there are many other possibilities for us to contribute to the peace and stability through our public work and civil society. That is needed more than ever before as some old tendencies and politics which caused the bloodshed in the region – are revived, Vlasi said.
He emphasized that the relations between Kosovo and BiH could be a lot better. He underlined that Kosovo did not have any serious obstacle in relations with former Yugoslav republics, except for Serbia – there are some old problems that ought to be solved.
- Good relationship between BiH and Kosovo will greatly contribute to the stability in the region, as both countries are situated on a vital geopolitical position, Vlasi opined.
Azem Vlasi has come to Sarajevo to promote his book - 'Kosovo: Unforgettable Beginning' in which he dissects key events which contributed to the fall of Yugoslavia.
