Vucic's double guarantees, one for Erdogan, another one for Ratko Mladic

In July 1992, Ratko Mladic carried out genocide over more than 8,000 Bosniaks from Srebrenica and its surrounding because, inter alia, he wanted to take revenge on Turks. 22 years after, the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic, during visit of the Turkish president Erdogan to Belgrade, pronounced the Turks friends of Serb people. However, he does not seem to have changed his position about Mladic.

On 11 July 1995, TV cameras followed Ratko Mladic and the RS Army as they entered Srebrenica. In 'liberated' Srebrenica, Mladic issued an order:

- We are heading straight to Potocari and Bratunac! Move before me, come on. Move ahead, and you will salute me when we get to Bratunac!

Then he asked about some buildings, what they were, who was in them.

- Move along, use this panic among the Turks. God willing, we should be soon in the center of Gorazde! Here we are on 11 July in Serb Srebrenica. On the eve of another big Serb holiday, we give this town to Serb people. The moment has come to take revenge on the Turks on this land, Mladic said.

Today, Ratko Mladic, the Commander of the RS Army, who was also on 'Serbia's payroll' is tried at the Hague Tribunal for genocide, exterminations, murders, deportations, evictions, inhumane deeds, terror, taking hostage...

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was welcomed in Belgrade on 10 October with honors. The Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic and president Erdogan signed a joint political declaration about founding a High council of cooperation between Serbia and Turkey. Multimillion investments are coming to Serbia from Turkey, while Turkey is expanding its market to accommodate Serbian goods.

- Serbia considers Turkey a friend, that's how it was, that's how it will be. This is not the year 1389, this is 2017 and we want the best possible relations with Turkey, Vucic said.

Only 5 days before Erdogan's visit to Belgrade, Serbia issued a guarantee for a temporary release of Ratko Mladic from detention in Hague, allegedly due to health issues.

- It is not the first time that the government of Serbia issue a guarantee for someone with the purpose of medical treatment, we have done it before, the Serbian Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic told RTV Serbia.

Analysts assert that the Serbian president Vucic runs his politics on several levels. He has shown no intention to distance himself from his backwards politics. The question is until when he will be able to run such politics.
