SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Friar Mile Babic, professor at Franciscan theology school in Sarajevo, says that he supports the proposal of Law on electoral units and number of mandates by SDP and DF. The proposal by those two parties, he said, would ensure multiethnicity in all federal cantons, which is of a great importance for BiH.

In order for the elections to take place next year, the Election law has to be changed. So far, only HDZ BiH submitted their proposal with amendments of the Elections law. SDP and DF have proposed a bill on election units and number of mandates which would allow elections to be held next year. Analysts have evaluated HDZ's proposal as very bad. According to their proposal, Croat representatives in federal and state government would be elected from the cantons in FBiH where Croats are majority. SDP and DF have requested that all three constituent peoples in FBiH plus Others – from all parts of Federation – have their representatives at higher level of the government.

- SDP's proposal would ensure that representatives of Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats respectively are elected from each canton, and that is very important because we have to maintain multiethnicity in every canton, in every part of Federation, friar Mile Babic told Patria.

Friar Babic thinks that HDZ's proposal 'would destroy multiethnicity in BiH, togetherness, and would deprive Croats of their rights in the cantons in which they are minority'.

- The Croats who live in Central Bosnia and Posavina would be deprived of their rights by HDZ's proposal, friar Babic says.
