Zoran Zekić apologises to fans after heavy defeat

(Patria) - Sarajevo footballers suffered a convincing defeat in a friendly match against Vukovar, it was 3:0 Vukovar. It was the second consecutive defeat for the Bordeaux team in the preparatory period, and coach Zoran Zekić did not hide his disappointment with what he saw.

He gave a statement to MY TV cameras after the match:

“Of course it’s not nice, it’s not at all pleasant for me. We prepared, we tried, we worked, and we tried to make everything right. Great efforts were invested, but simply – mistakes repeated themselves. We were not concentrated enough, that was evident today as well,” said Zekić.

He pointed out that such matches are an indicator of certain weaknesses in the team, but also an opportunity for analysis ahead of the continuation of preparations in Slovenia.

“We have three more friendly matches in Slovenia. We need to ‘stay positive’ a bit, calm our heads. Those who are currently the best are playing, and we no longer have time for trials. Although these are friendly matches, everyone must get a chance, but now we must focus on what we have,” added Zekić.

When asked about the young players coming from the FK Sarajevo Academy, Zekić said:

“Perhaps it is still too early for final conclusions. The youngsters gave as much as they could, I wouldn’t say they made the key mistakes. The problem is that mistakes come from players who already played most of last season. We must find the right people in the right places. We must not allow ourselves to enter the season with such problems,” concluded Zekić.
