Zmajice powerless against the Irish in Zenica

(Patria) - The women's "A" national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was defeated by Northern Ireland 1:3 today in the second round of Group B3 of the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

The match was played in front of about 500 spectators at the Training Centre of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica, with the first chance coming for the Bosnian team already in the 2nd minute.

Emina Ekić crossed from the right side, and Maja Jelčić did not make the best contact with the ball in the six-yard box, and it ended up in the hands of goalkeeper Jacqueline Burns.

In the 27th minute, Ekić entered the opponent's penalty area and shot from an angle on the right side, with Burns pushing the ball out for a corner.

Minela Gačanica shot from distance in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the goal.

The visitors took the lead in the 54th minute. Keri Halliday sent the ball into the penalty area for Nadane Caldwell, who was precise to make it 0:1.

Just two minutes later, the Zmajice equalised. Gačanica advanced down the left side and crossed for Marija Ana Milinković, who was accurate from about ten metres to make it 1:1.

Megan Bell scored the second goal for Northern Ireland in the 60th minute, and Simone Magill added the third in the 68th minute.

The Zmajice will play their next qualifying match on 31 May against Malta away.
