Dragons in Mejdan crush the Swiss by 24 points for the first win in the World Cup qualifiers

(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina basketball team tonight, in the packed Mejdan in Tuzla, crushed the Swiss selection with a score of 84:60 in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Dario Gjergja's team now has a record of one win and two losses in qualifying Group C. The Swiss are at 0-3.

The game started tough and with few points, especially in the first quarter.

In the opening minutes, the guests relied on a motivated Schumacher, who scored 11 points in the first period and posed the biggest threat to our team.

However, in the middle of the quarter, the BiH national team found its rhythm, and with points from Vrabac and Penava, they took control and finished the first period with a 20:12 lead.

The second quarter brought fluctuations. Our basketball players started the continuation furiously and very quickly reached a double-digit lead of 15 points.

However, a drop in concentration in offense and several turnovers allowed the Swiss to go on a 10:2 run and get back into the game.

Nevertheless, the end of the first half belonged to the Dragons. Two consecutive three-pointers by Vrabac and Sulejmanović restored confidence to the game, and the teams went into halftime with a convincing 41:27 lead.

The third period was again marked by tough and hard-fought play. Lazić scored several times with additional free throws, while Alibegović and Atić made significant contributions at both ends.

Switzerland tried to reduce the deficit with three-point shots, but without much success. Strong defense and dominance in the paint led our team to a scoring run that increased the lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter.

In the last ten minutes of the match, the BiH team routinely controlled the game and, without major problems, brought the match to an end, achieving a deserved and convincing victory, writes Arenasport.

The most effective player for Bosnia and Herzegovina was Vrabac with 15 points, Lazić added 14, while Simanić finished the game with 11. For Switzerland, the best player was Alexander Schumacher with 19 points.

In the next round, our national team will play an away game in Switzerland, and in that match, the BiH team should be strengthened by the returnees Džanan Musa and Kenan Kamenjaš.
