Golden Lilies achieve second triumph in Gyor

(Patria) - The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in sitting volleyball achieved its second victory at the European Championship in Gyor, Hungary.

After defeating Italy 3:0 (25:7, 25:18, 25:16) this morning, the team led by coach Ifet Mahmutović was also convincing against Latvia in the second round of Group B this afternoon.

The Golden Lilies triumphed with a score of 3:0. The set scores were 25:18, 25:16, 25:6.

The Latvians offered some resistance in the first and second sets, but our boys "shifted into a higher gear" in the last one and routinely brought the match to an end.

- From one perspective, these are easy matches, and from another, they are harder because we cannot develop our own game. These are teams that are too weak for our quality; if you relax, they can slow down the game, and then you can find yourself chasing the score.

That didn't happen, but it's a lesson and a message for future matches, especially at the net. What handicapped us a bit was that captain Delalić fell ill and had to go to the hospital for intervention today.

We had to reconfigure the lineup and do some different combinations. I hope the captain will be better in the coming days; he has returned to the campus where we are playing. The young players got a chance and showed they can perform, and of course, the experienced players were at their usual level - stated Mahmutović.

One of the most consistent players of the BiH team for years is Ermin Jusufović, who also delivered excellent performances today.

- The first two matches, two expected victories, I would say. This morning, the Italian national team, a team that is on the rise and will certainly be a great rival for us in the future.

Then, the second victory against the Latvian national team, which was second in the recently concluded Silver League. Regarding expectations for tomorrow's matches, we expect games against the Netherlands and Serbia, and anything other than maximum victories would be a surprise.

As for the group stage, the day after tomorrow we have another match against Germany, where we expect a victory and qualification for the next round of the competition from the first place, but we will discuss that after the group stage is over - said Jusufović.

Standings in Group B

Our golden boys' next match is tomorrow morning against the Netherlands at 10:15 AM.

Let us remind you, the BiH team consists of Dževad Hamzić, Stevan Crnobrnja, Asim Medić, Edin Đino, Muhamed Kapetanović, Nizam Čančar, Ismet Godinjak, Elvis Šerifović, Ermin Jusufović, Safet Alibašić, Mirzet Duran, Armin Šehić, Adnan Manko, and captain Sabahudin Delalić, who did not play in today's matches due to health reasons.
