In the derby of the 23rd round of the Wwin League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zrinjski hosted Željezničar, and the clash of old rivals ended with a home win (2:0) on a very difficult pitch due to heavy rainfall.
The current champion of the Wwin League can hardly catch up with the leading Borac, but obviously does not give up on the title. The Nobles today, in front of their fans, achieved another victory, and in a match where they did not shine.
Despite perhaps greater motivation due to the desire to avoid relegation, the guests from Sarajevo did not secure a win, nor even a point, although it seemed they might finally remain undefeated away from home. Believe it or not, this is the 12th away match for the Blues this season, and they still have not earned a single point.
In the first 10 minutes or so, one attempt on each side. First, Malekinušić tried with a header, but Muftić easily saved, while on the other side, Cocalić's header went wide of the Mostar team's goal.
The home team had the first major chance in the 18th minute. Memija crosses, Malekinušić is left alone at the far post, shoots with his head, but the ball goes straight into the well-positioned Muftić. Željezničar responds through Hiroš, who shot from about 25 meters, but the ball ended up in the hands of the home goalkeeper.
At the start of the match, Haračić tried a header from Radinović's cross, but his attempt was blocked. It was Haračić who missed the best chance of the match. From just five meters, completely alone, he shot over the goal.
Mulahusejnović almost punished his miss about 20 minutes before the end, but there was not enough precision in his header. Zrinjski looked more dangerous on the pitch in those moments, but could not find the goal.
Nardin Mulahusejnović finished off Željezničar
And then, in the 80th minute, Zrinjski celebrates. Mulahusejnović headed superbly and scored from 14 meters for 1:0. A response from Željezničar was expected, but Bruno Akrapović's team did not have the strength to come back, so they suffered another defeat. Moreover, the home team managed to confirm the victory.
In the 89th minute, a great run by Mulahusejnović down the right side, he crossed to the other side where Ćuže was alone, and then with a powerful shot "nailed" the Blues. To make matters worse, Radinović received a red card in stoppage time, and then clashed with the Zrinjski bench.
With these three points, Zrinjski has 46 and is 9 points behind Borac, who hosts Zvijezda 09 tomorrow. Željezničar is second-to-last with 23 points, and new tough matches await after the international break, as they will first host Velež, then visit Sloga, and then host Sarajevo, reports sportsport.ba.
