Željezničar beat Velež at Grbavica

(Patria) - Željezničar secured a convincing victory in the derby of old rivals against Velež. The score at Grbavica was 2:1, with the home side taking the lead in the second half, thus extending their winning streak to three matches.

Before the match, both coaches had problems with injuries and suspensions, so there were several surprises in the starting line-up.

A good thing for the home side was that Boljević gritted his teeth and ended up playing the entire match, being one of the heroes, while for the visitors, Ribić replaced Hadžikić in goal.

In the first half, the most attention was drawn to a situation in the 35th minute when a goal by Krpić was disallowed due to an offside position, and that after a call from the VAR room.

The Blues started the second half excellently, putting on serious pressure, and took the lead in the 65th minute.

After a run by Cvetanovski, the ball bounced off a scramble to Boljević, who sent the ball into the net.

There followed a period of play between the two penalty areas, and in the 81st minute a penalty was awarded to the home side. Hrkač fouled Dangubić, and Krpić scored.

In stoppage time, Lohan brought Velež back into the game, but there was no time for a full comeback. It ended 2:1 for the home side.

With the new three points, Željezničar solidified their fourth place in the table, while Velež suffered their sixth defeat of the season and remain close to the relegation zone.
