Zekić: A strong opponent awaits us, we will leave our hearts on the field

(Patria) - Football Club Sarajevo will host the Romanian team CS Universitatea Craiova tomorrow at the "Asim Ferhatović Hase" stadium, in the first match of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.

Ahead of this match, coach Zoran Zekić and defender Amar Beganović shared their expectations and commented on the current situation in the team.

The Croatian strategist emphasized that the team has gone through a period of significant changes, and that he would have liked more time to prepare the changed team for this match, but despite that, enthusiasm in the Sarajevo team is not lacking.

"We are aware that a quality opponent awaits us and that the atmosphere in the stands will be exceptional. The players showed in today's training that they understand the tactical demands. We have no illusions about winning this competition, but we are determined to leave our hearts on the field. I have always tried to be realistic. We analyzed Craiova – they have a new system of play, but their coach remains the same. I believe that home advantage can be ours. BiH clubs have been performing poorly in Europe lately, and that further motivates us," stated Zekić.

Asked how he deals with the fact that midfielder Vladan Bubanja left the club just before an important match, Zekić said that it is "part of the job". Speaking about the numerous new players in the defensive line, Zekić emphasized that individuals are just getting into their rhythm.

"Đorđević is training at full intensity, while Bralić and Pejović have not completed their preparations and are therefore not registered. Ristovski is relatively new, but we assessed that he can help already. We are still looking for the ideal balance, but energy and a positive atmosphere are carrying us," concluded the Sarajevo strategist.

Defender Amar Beganović notes that the club's preparations were strenuous, and that he expects a difficult match against a serious opponent, one of the best teams in Romania.

"I believe in this team and that we will give our maximum. The atmosphere has been excellent from day one. The new guys have integrated quickly. The more experienced players are helping them, and we support them in every aspect. I think this unity can be our advantage. They are an opponent with exceptional speed, especially going forward. However, we have analyzed them in detail and are ready for the challenge. The key will be to implement everything we agreed upon with the coach," said the footballer.

The first match of the second qualifying round of the Conference League between Sarajevo and Craiova will be played tomorrow at 9 PM at the "Asim Ferhatović Hase" stadium.
