Top European Kickboxing Cup Concluded, 1,150 Competitors from Over 20 Countries Participated

After three days of competition in Ilidža, the European Kickboxing Cup for cadets, juniors, and seniors concluded, gathering 1,150 competitors from over 20 European countries.

This top-tier sporting event at Arena Hills was also included in the official calendar of the World Kickboxing Association, which has over 120 member states on all five continents (WAKO), and its organizer is the Kickboxing Academy “Ilidža,” successfully led by Nermin Bašović for years.

- The effort invested paid off, as spectators enjoyed top-level fights. Ilidža and Sarajevo Canton were the center of combat sports for the past three days, and the praise from all participating national teams is the best indicator of the overall organization at the highest level. The European Cup is economically beneficial for our local community and Sarajevo Canton. All athletes who come to the European Cup spend money on accommodation, food, off-site activities, souvenirs, and ultimately, the entire city benefits.

The most important thing is that we are sending the best image from Ilidža. Our organization of the European Cup has been recognized by the European Kickboxing Federation, and the trust we have gained is invaluable.

I must highlight the support of the sponsors and friends of the project: the Municipality of Ilidža, led by Mayor Nermin Muzur, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board and its director Haris Fazlagić, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, BH Telecom, and Mozzart.

The funds invested in organizing the competition are returned through the medals and results of our competitors - says Nermin Bašović.
