52nd Plum Fair in Gradačac Concluded, Featuring 150 Exhibitors from BiH, the Region, Germany, Turkey...

(Patria) - The 52nd International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair, held from August 27 to 30, 2025, concluded today in Gradačac. Over the past four days, more than 150 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, countries of the region, Germany, and Turkey presented their products across approximately 5000 square meters. The organizer of this traditional fair event was the Tourist Board of the City of Gradačac, with the support of the City of Gradačac and numerous partners and sponsors.

- We assess this 52nd International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair in Gradačac as very successful. As the Organizing Committee, we are satisfied with the realized activities and grateful to the exhibitors and visitors. We may not have returned the fair to its former glory, but we have definitely started on that path. It is up to us to maintain that continuity, both in organization and in the realization of activities. To continue to be innovative, accessible, and flexible in organizing such an event. We also thank our partners for their support. We hope to organize a fair next year that will attract an even larger number of exhibitors and visitors, said Sakib Imširović, acting head of the Tourist Office of the Tourist Board of the City of Gradačac.

Renowned companies in the field of food production and processing, protective agents, machinery and equipment, institutions and organizations supporting agricultural development, and the banking sector were represented at the Plum Fair. Collective exhibitions of partner cities, chambers of commerce and crafts, and tourist boards and other organizations were also present.

- As official sponsors of the 52nd Plum Fair, we support this event. As a local dairy, we have the desire and obligation to support our farmers through such forms of presentation. We are very satisfied with the attendance and program content, as well as the scientific gatherings. We had several important discussions and hosted numerous delegations, stated Indira Omeragić, director of MI99 Gradačac Dairy.

Economic and scientific-professional gatherings dedicated significant attention to innovations, knowledge exchange, and research in agriculture. Discussions covered modern approaches to fruit nutrition and protection, innovations in irrigation during climate change, and measures for better storage and preservation of fruits. Present solutions in the digitalization of Bosnian-Herzegovinian agriculture were presented.

Nikola Livančić, a Master of Agronomy from Vitez, who deals with the cultivation of ornamental planting material and indigenous fruits, emphasizes that agriculture is very demanding and requires daily work.

- What we heard in the lectures is very useful, especially regarding plant stress and production innovations. For us as producers, plant stress is not an unfamiliar term, and the fact that plants experience stress, but it was useful to hear how to alleviate it, how to remedy it, and how to act preventatively, said Livančić.

The Plum Fair in Gradačac was an opportunity to present new technological achievements in agriculture alongside scientific presentations. It was again emphasized that these and similar technological achievements will be very significant in the future due to the shortage of labor and the declining interest in agriculture.

This year, automation in greenhouse production, software-developed by Giga Informatika, was presented, and Zemax from Gradačac will provide professional and technical assistance to farmers. To monitor testing results, an experimental plot will be set up on the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science in Sarajevo as early as September this year.

- The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science is a proud partner and friend of this fair. We have grown together, both we and you here in Gradačac. Our goal is to make the latest technical and technological knowledge accessible to our farmers. The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science is open to all of them, and they can freely contact us. We are here to help our farmers and to make the fair in Gradačac better every year, said Prof. Dr. Muhamed Brka, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science in Sarajevo.

At the 52nd Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry, medals for quality of the Plum Fair were awarded, and the 1st competitive exhibition of dairy breeds was held. The beekeepers' association “Pčela” (Bee) Gradačac organized the 8th beekeeping fair with international participation, where trophies for the best-rated honey were awarded.

This year, a rich cultural and entertainment program was organized for visitors, including promotions, exhibitions, and concerts by Enes Begović and the Panky & Vulkan rock band from Gradačac. Nihad Fetić Hakala entertained guests at the traditional Blue Night. Due to predicted bad weather conditions, tonight's concert by Ibro Bublin was canceled.
