Inmates of Zenica Penitentiary Could Soon Work for the Military Industry

(Patria) - The defense industry in the Federation of BiH is on a significant rise. Existing factories are increasing capacities, and the construction of new facilities is being prepared.

Some companies that have been slowly declining for years are now stars on a strong rise and are struggling to find enough employees to meet the growing demand for labor.

The construction of new facilities is being prepared in Tuzla, Krajina, and perhaps in other parts of the Federation of BiH.

Certainly, it is interesting information that inmates of the Zenica Penitentiary (KPZ) could soon start working for the growing defense industry, writes BiznisInfo.ba.

Such a possibility was announced during a recent conversation between the Minister of Spatial Planning of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Adnan Šabani and the Director of the Zenica Penitentiary Rusmir Isak.

Among other things, they discussed the possibility of restarting the foundry within the KPZ, which could produce parts for stoves, manhole covers, and products for the defense industry.

This project would not only benefit the prison and the city of Zenica but could also have a significant impact on the entire country's economy.

- Restarting the foundry at the Zenica Penitentiary is not just a matter of economic profitability, but also an opportunity to provide work programs within the prison system and contribute to industrial development - said Director Isak.

Minister Šabani, who has extensive experience in the metal industry, also emphasized the importance of restarting the foundry within the Zenica Penitentiary and supported the initiative for its implementation.

In the coming months, a detailed feasibility study and operational plan are planned, which will define concrete steps for the implementation of this significant project.
