Xiaomi presented its first electric car

(Patria) - Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi today presented its first electric vehicle.

Xiaomi immediately announced that they intend to become one of the five largest global car manufacturers.

The sedan, named SU7, is a long-awaited model expected to fully leverage the shared operating system with the company's popular phones, Hina reports.

However, the car makes its debut at a time when the world's largest car market is struggling with overcapacity and slowing demand that has fueled a major price war.

- By working hard in the next 15 to 20 years, we will become one of the five largest car manufacturers in the world, striving to elevate the entire Chinese automotive industry - said CEO Lei Jun during the presentation of the SU7 model.
