Vučić: Serbia exports all the weapons it can produce

(Patria) - Serbia exports all the weapons it manages to produce for sale, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Vučić points out that the interest is so great that Serbia could sell everything it makes in 30 years with just one contract.

- The arms race began when the world realized that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not be easily defeated.

That is why everyone is arming themselves five times faster - Vučić said today during a visit to the Military-Technical Institute (VTI) in Belgrade.

Speaking about domestic production, Vučić said at a demonstration of military technology that the goal in the coming period is the production of 5,000 "komarac" kamikaze drones, developed by VTI experts.

He adds that the plan is for the "vrabac" reconnaissance drone to be operational by September.

Following the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Vučić has repeatedly stated that Serbia does not export weapons to Kyiv or Moscow.

Shortly after the outbreak of Russia's war against Ukraine, Belgrade imposed a moratorium on military exercises with foreign partners.

Serbian Ministry of Defense State Secretary Nemanja Starović said today that Serbia has had substantial military cooperation with NATO member states in the last two years.

- Given the new circumstances, Serbia's cooperation with Russia has not significantly developed since the war in Ukraine began - Starović told Voice of America.

Until the war in Ukraine, the Serbian Army conducted exercises at home and abroad with the armies of the former Eastern Bloc, Russia, and Belarus, as well as with the armed forces of the West, the USA, and other NATO members.

Since 2006, it has been a member of the Partnership for Peace program, which is considered the first step towards NATO membership. In 2007, official Belgrade declared Serbia militarily neutral.
