Volvo recalls electric EX30 due to software issues

(Patria) - Volvo is recalling the all-electric EX30 due to software issues.

The problem affects all 71,000 EX30s that Volvo has produced.

These small SUVs may have an error on the central display that causes the speedometer to switch to test mode when the car starts, the company announced.

To fix the malfunction, a wireless software update is required, Volvo stated in a press release today.

The company added that owners will be informed about the steps they need to take.

There are no reports of injuries or accidents related to this problem, Volvo emphasized.

This is the second time since January that a software issue has affected the EX30, which is produced in China, writes Automotive News.

Volvo has also been affected by software problems with the EX90 model, whose production in the USA began last week after a long delay.

The automaker's shares fell as much as 3.5 percent in early trading in Stockholm.

The Swedish website Carup was the first to report on the problem in the EX30, which has already reached third place in the sales charts for all-electric models in Europe, according to market researcher Dataforce. It is only behind the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

The EX30 is also the main reason why Volvo is on track to set a new global sales record this year.

By May, the automaker had increased its global sales by 41,242 units, with the EX30 accounting for 35,309 of that total.
