(Patria) - The Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, at today's 83rd session, chaired in the absence of Prime Minister Nezir Pivić by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dženana Čišija, approved the amount of 200,000 KM to the Basketball Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina as support for the participation of youth selections in major international competitions.
Four youth basketball selections of Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to compete in European championships in Latvia, Romania, Turkey, and North Macedonia. Given that their participation was questionable due to a lack of financial resources, the Government of ZDK reacted promptly, which also prompted others to announce their support.
"With this decision, the Government of ZDK wanted to show how important it is to support national representative selections and associations, even though cantons are not formally competent for such decisions," stated Minister Čišija, who, on behalf of herself and the Government of ZDK, wished success to the young male and female basketball players, as well as the senior national team which is expected to compete in the European Championship from August 27 to September 14.
In addition to supporting the Basketball Association of BiH, from the position of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of ZDK, decisions were made on the payment of three transfers totaling 300,000 KM. These funds are intended for non-profit and youth organizations, as well as for the protection of cultural and historical monuments.
Based on the proposal of the Ministry of Health, three decisions were made on the payment of a total of 350,000 KM to the Institute for Health and Food Safety of Zenica. The funds are intended for co-financing promotional and preventive activities of the health sector, public health programs, and research in the field of public health in 2025.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Policy, and Refugees proposed a decision on the payment of 450,000 KM for the operation of public kitchens in this canton. Also, 80,000 KM was approved for the adult education co-financing program for the needs of the ZDK labor market. Three individual decisions were also made on linking the employment record for employees who meet the conditions for retirement, who worked in companies that were closed and went through bankruptcy proceedings, but whose contributions were not paid.
The Ministry of Economy presented programs for co-financing small and medium-sized enterprises in the total amount of 5,100,000 KM, which the Government approved at today's session.
