(Patria) - Three-time consecutive Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen said yesterday that he will stay with Red Bull for the next season as well.
Verstappen at a press conference ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, after being asked three times to publicly state whether he will drive for Red Bull next season, answered affirmatively.
- Okay, yes. We are already working on the car for next season, and when you are focused on that, it means you are also driving for that team - Verstappen said.
Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull until 2028, but the vacant seat of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes from 2025 has sparked speculation that the German team will try to lure Verstappen.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff earlier this year said he would like Verstappen to drive for that team.
Verstappen is currently leading the Formula 1 championship with a 69-point advantage over McLaren driver Lando Norris.
He has won seven of the ten races in this year's championship, including the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend.
The next Formula 1 race takes place on June 30 in Austria.
