(Patria) - Nearly 100,000 people took to the streets of London in solidarity with Palestine, demanding an end to Israeli bombing of Gaza.
The Metropolitan Police said that around 100,000 protesters gathered on Saturday afternoon for the demonstration, with the march heading towards Whitehall from Marble Arch.
People carried placards reading "Free Palestine", Palestinian flags, and green flares were lit.
Chants of "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" were heard - despite controversy over the meaning of the slogan.
Jewish organizations have asked prosecutors to clarify whether chanting this slogan is a criminal offense.
However, defenders of the slogan say it is a "long-standing protest chant" calling for a homeland for the Palestinian people.
In Italy's capital Rome, citizens also gathered demanding peace for Palestine, as well as in Sydney, Australia.
