(Patria) - Italian skier Federica Brignone won her second gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games (WOG) being held in Milan and Cortina.
After triumphing in the Super-G discipline, Brignone was also the best in the giant slalom today.
She excelled in both runs and reached the gold medal with a total time of 2:13.50, confirming her top form in front of the home crowd.
Today's race also brought an unusual outcome on the podium.
Sweden's Sara Hector and Norway's Thea Stjernesund achieved identical total times - 2:14.12 - so they shared the silver medal.
It is particularly interesting that both skiers had exactly the same times in both runs, which is a true rarity at this level of competition.
Two representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina also competed in the giant slalom.
Elvedina Muzaferija finished the second run with a deficit of 7.17 seconds, and finished the competition in 32nd place.
Esma Alić also finished her performance with a deficit of 22.33 seconds and took 51st position.
