(Patria) - Goalkeeper of the national football team Nikola Vasilj said after tonight's victory of Bosnia and Herzegovina over Romania that this is a great win, but that in three days there is another match that is equally important.
"We can celebrate a little and then return to Sarajevo," Vasilj said.
He points out that this victory cost them several players. Captain Edin Džeko and Armin Gigović had to leave the pitch after sustaining injuries. The Romanians were extremely aggressive, and the match was frequently interrupted, which is why it was extended by eight minutes.
"Everyone gave their maximum, we left our hearts on the pitch. It wasn't easy, especially in the second half, we knew they would put pressure on us. We have no choice but to carry this feeling into the next match," Vasilj said.
National team player Ivan Šunjić said that the match against Cyprus should be approached the same way as the one against Romania.
"The team is the most important thing, and the three points are the most important," Šunjić said.
Coach Sergej Barbarez said he was delighted with how they played tonight's match.
"I keep telling them that our path exists. Everything is up to us. Willpower and courage won. The most important thing is that they react on the pitch, and we saw that. There was already a sentence on the topic of Cyprus," Barbarez said.
The coach said that the information is that Edin Džeko broke his nose, while Gigović fell on his shoulder, but that they will "sort that out" in the next two days.
