Import of gold, watches, and perfumes in BiH exceeded 107 million KM

(Patria) - We import finished jewelry from Italy, and sell broken gold to Turkey, can be concluded from import and export data kept by the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH.

When it comes to perfumes, BiH citizens like to buy European products, from France and Spain, and when they choose watches, they most often buy them from China, writes Capital.ba.

Both import and export of gold and other precious materials in BiH remain at last year's level, according to data from the UIO BiH.

Namely, for the first nine months of this year, gold worth 52 million KM including duties was imported, and only slightly more than 32 million KM was exported.

It was similar last year, when about 56 million KM of precious materials were imported, while almost 34 million was exported.

By far the most imported are jewelry items made of precious material or metals plated with precious materials, worth over 32 million KM.

And the most exported are waste or scrap of precious materials, with a total value exceeding 20 million KM. The same trend was present in previous years.

The watch market in BiH this year has exceeded the value of 17 million KM. A total of about 65 tons of watches were imported, worth more than 13.5 million KM, on which duties of 3.5 million KM were paid.

Of this amount, about 800,000 KM relates to watches, including stopwatches that have a casing made of precious material or are plated with precious metals such as gold.

By far the largest importer of watches in BiH is China, followed by the European leader in watch production, Switzerland, then Hong Kong - these are the data from the UIO BiH.

The perfume market is much larger, reaching a value of 38.5 million KM with duties for the first nine months.

This year's imports have surpassed last year's by eight million, at least in monetary value, but also in quantity.

Given that perfumes, like other goods, are measured in kilograms, 778 tons of perfumes were imported in the first nine months of this year, compared to 609 tons last year.

When it comes to perfumes, European countries dominate. France leads in value, while Spain leads in quantity.

Namely, 70 tons of perfumes from France cost more than ten million KM, while over 120 tons from Spain cost about seven million KM.

The smallest recorded import was from Portugal, 260 grams of an unknown perfume, costing slightly less than 3 KM, with duties of 0.86 KM paid on it.
