(Patria) - TAV Airports hosted a celebration last night, October 2nd, at Skopje International Airport for the first passengers of the new Skopje-Sarajevo line, established by AEGEAN Airlines, Greece's leading airline and a member of STAR ALLIANCE. With the first flight from Skopje International Airport, AEGEAN has established a line between the two capitals with an ATR72-600 aircraft, operating three times a week. Passengers will fly from Skopje to Sarajevo every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The friendly staff of Sarajevo International Airport warmly welcomed all passengers who flew in from Skopje with symbolic gifts as a welcome to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Sarajevo.
"We are pleased that AEGEAN is increasing its presence in our market, with a new destination from Skopje in addition to Athens, namely Sarajevo. AEGEAN will fly three times a week from Skopje to Sarajevo and, thanks to good connectivity with the existing Athens-Skopje line, will ensure a smooth travel experience in the Balkan region. We believe this new line will meet passengers' needs to reach Sarajevo quickly and comfortably from Skopje in just over an hour, instead of using land transport which takes hours and involves an exhausting journey between the two capitals. Now, passengers from Sarajevo can travel to Skopje with an AEGEAN flight in about an hour, visit famous sights and cultural heritage during short visits to the city or extended recreational trips to our country," said Nejat Kurt, General Manager of TAV Macedonia.
Roland Jaggi, Chief Operating Officer, stated that today they are pleased to celebrate with the first passengers and selected travel agencies the launch of the new line from Skopje to Sarajevo.
“With this new line, which we sincerely hope will become one of the favorites among passengers, we aim to increase connectivity and expand our presence in the Balkan region. Through our high-quality services, we want to promote interstate mobility, tourism, and strengthen trade relations, not only between the two countries but also with Greece. The launch of this new line is also the result of cooperation between AEGEAN and Skopje International Airport, and I want to thank our colleagues from TAV Airports for the great partnership we have achieved. We will continue to develop our network and offer new opportunities for connections in the region, and of course, we look forward to seeing you on one of our flights soon,” he emphasized.
Alan Bajić, Director of Sarajevo International Airport, said that they welcomed Aegean's first flight from Skopje with great pleasure, which landed at Sarajevo International Airport last night.
“We are particularly pleased by the fact that the launch of this line is the result of the joint and very successful cooperation between two airports, TAV Macedonia Skopje, Sarajevo International Airport, and AEGEAN, the Greek airline. We are happy that AEGEAN has recognized the importance and potential of establishing this air route, as an excellent way to improve communication and strengthen cooperation in the economy and tourism between North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am convinced that the cooperation between AEGEAN and Sarajevo International Airport will be long and successful,” Bajić emphasized.
Until the end of October, the departure time from Skopje Airport will be at 7:00 PM, arriving at Sarajevo Airport at 8:10 PM, and the departure time from Sarajevo Airport will be at 8:50 PM, arriving at Skopje Airport at 9:50 PM. A similar schedule will be offered during the winter 23/24 season.
