
(Patria) - With a ceremonial opening in Sarajevo today, the European U-21 Taekwondo Championship has begun, running until November 23.
A large number of dignitaries, people from cultural and public life attended the opening ceremony of the competition, which features over 560 competitors from 43 countries, with live TV coverage provided by TV SA.
Samir Šarić, a member of the Presidency of the Taekwondo Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and head of the Taekwondo Association of the Federation of BiH, used the ceremonial occasion to present commemorative plaques, along with Branko Stanić, Vice President of the Taekwondo Association of FBiH, to all those who have made a significant contribution and offered selfless support to the development and better, higher-quality organization of taekwondo in our country.
Šarić specifically thanked the European Taekwondo Union for the trust shown, and presented a plaque on behalf of the European taekwondo body to Antonio Barbarin, Secretary General of the European Taekwondo Union.
As the technical organizer, Šarić also presented plaques to Şahin Metin, Vice President of the European Taekwondo Union, Joan Kakbil, representative of Kukkiwon, Davor Komšić, Vice President of the Olympic Committee of BiH, Toni Tomas, Olympic coach and head coach of the Croatian national team, and Dragan Jović, Olympic coach and director of the Serbian national team.
The continental championship was declared open by Davor Komšić, Vice President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who also extended a warm welcome to the guests.
In addition to 567 competitors, 223 officials also arrived in the capital of our homeland for this prestigious competition.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Kukkiwon Demo team from Korea, who, through attractive and spectacular moves, showcased the beauty of taekwondo as special guests.
