80th Anniversary of Svjetlostkomerc Celebrated at Sarajevo City Hall

(Patria) - The 80th anniversary of Svjetlostkomerc, one of the oldest and most recognizable business traditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was celebrated tonight at Sarajevo City Hall.

This significant jubilee brought together numerous guests from public, cultural, and business life, representatives of institutions, partners, employees, and friends of the company, confirming Svjetlostkomerc's role as an important part of the cultural and economic history of Sarajevo and BiH.



The celebration was designed as a cultural and artistic event. Students from the "Mladen Pozajić" Primary Music School presented a fitting musical program, bringing a festive, emotional, and dignified tone to the evening, in line with the tradition that Svjetlostkomerc has nurtured for eight decades.



The Mayor of Sarajevo, Samir Avdić, emphasized the importance of Svjetlostkomerc for the city's identity.

- Svjetlostkomerc is much more than a company – it is an institution of culture, education, and memory. Through eighty years, this enterprise has followed the development of Sarajevo and the country, preserving what is most valuable: the book, the story, and knowledge. This is a jubilee we celebrate with our hearts – said Avdić.



The Director of Svjetlostkomerc, Vedad Halilović, thanked the employees and partners.

- Svjetlostkomerc preserves tradition, but also bravely moves forward. Our mission remains the same – to be a home for books and knowledge, a meeting place for ideas and people. We dedicate this jubilee to everyone who has built and is building Svjetlostkomerc, because without them, this story would not have lasted – said Halilović.

During the festive program, awards were presented to long-term employees as a token of gratitude for their professionalism, loyalty, and contribution to the company's development. The attendees responded with a long applause.



Among the guests were representatives of the academic and cultural community, publishing industry, economy, as well as numerous public figures, which testifies to the reputation Svjetlostkomerc enjoys in society.



The festive gathering continued in the Ceremonial Hall of the City Hall, with conversations, reminiscences, and the affirmation that the tradition of Svjetlostkomerc remains alive – looking towards the future, but firmly grounded in the values that have shaped it through generations.
