Taekwondo tournament Bosnia Open G1/E1 to be held in Sarajevo in the next two days

(Patria) - The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the prestigious G1/E1 taekwondo tournament Bosnia Open this year, technically organized by the Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The prestigious two-day competition, which attracts a large number of competitors every year, will begin tomorrow, November 30, and will be hosted by the Arena of the Hills Hotel in Ilidža.

On the first day of competition, seniors will take to the mats, while on Monday, December 1, taekwondo practitioners of cadet and senior age groups will compete for medals.

Despite numerous major taekwondo competitions that preceded the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open, the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has made maximum efforts to ensure that the organization of this tournament is at a top level, just like in previous years.

"Unlike previous years, this year's tournament organization is particularly challenging due to the fact that several major competitions, European and world championships, have been held in the short period preceding our tournament, and some are yet to come. Regardless of this, we are convinced that we will justify the trust and reputation that our tournament has gained in previous years," said the president of TKDS FBiH and member of the Executive Board of the European Taekwondo Union, Samir Šarić.

Among the numerous participants, the most prominent name in the senior G1 part of the tournament is certainly the Croatian national team member Matea Jelić, the gold medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games in the category up to 67 kilograms.

The participation of the best Bosnian and Herzegovinian taekwondo practitioner Nedžad Husić in the tournament is also particularly pleasing.

The ceremonial opening ceremony of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open is scheduled for December 1, starting at 11 AM.

After the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open, from December 3 to 6, Sarajevo will host the European Grand Prix for the first time, featuring the best 640 young taekwondo practitioners of cadet and junior age groups.

The fact that for the first time in the history of the European Grand Prix, cash prizes have been secured for the three best competitors in each category for both age groups, speaks volumes about the efforts of the Taekwondo Federation of FBiH in organizing the event, and it is important to mention that the best individuals from four qualifying Grand Prix tournaments held throughout the year have qualified for the final European Grand Prix.

"We are pleased that our dedicated work in popularizing taekwondo has also been recognized by the European Taekwondo Union, which has decided to entrust us with the technical organization of the European Grand Prix, not only this year but also for the next two years," emphasized Šarić, a member of the presidency of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and invited all fans of martial arts to visit the competitions that will take place in the Arena Hills, for which admission is free.

The meeting of the Executive Board of the European Taekwondo Union, which will be held on December 5, and will be attended by the head of ETU, Sakis Pragalos, who recently took over the position of vice-president of the World Taekwondo Federation (WT), adds further "weight" and recognition to the competitions.
