(Patria) - At midnight, election silence began in Croatia, lasting until 7 PM tomorrow evening, announced the State Election Commission (DIP) ahead of Sunday's presidential elections.
The DIP warned political parties, candidates, media and others about the rules they must adhere to during this period.
During the election silence, any election promotion, publication of election result estimates, as well as publication of preliminary, unofficial election results, photographs in public media, statements and interviews, and citing statements or written works of election participants are prohibited.
Political parties and their candidates are called upon to refrain from any form of promotion during the election silence, including presenting candidates and programs, publishing promotional messages, photographs, or posting new posters and leaflets.
Additionally, it is recommended to refrain from phone calls, sending SMS messages, emails to voters, as well as from publishing new content on social networks such as statuses, videos, images, or comments that could influence voters.
The DIP also called on the media not to publish photographs, statements, interviews, and to remove from their programs all content related to election promotion.
