Three goals and a red card: On the opening of the Premier League, Sloga better than Velež, who was left without three players!

(Patria) - The first match of the new Premier League season has ended, in which Doboj's Sloga defeated Velež 2:1 at home.

The match started combatively from both sides, and the first serious attempt was seen already in the 16th minute. Mekić shot from distance, and after Dizdarević deflected the ball, Tatar was in the right place and scored for the home team's lead – 1:0, also the first goal of the new season.

Velež was forced to make two early substitutions due to injuries. Nukić came off already in the 13th minute, and just ten minutes later, Pidro, who had previously replaced Nukić, also had to leave the field. Because of this, coach Dean Klafurić was forced to change the formation to 3-5-2.

Nevertheless, despite the personnel problems, the guests managed to equalize. In the 35th minute, Lauš positioned himself excellently on his left foot and precisely scored for 1:1.

However, the guests' joy did not last long. In the 40th minute, Savić assisted Jović, who scored from the edge of the penalty area for Sloga's new lead – 2:1, which was also the result at halftime.

The second half brought a continuation of fierce battle, but also nervousness. In the 56th minute, Tatar received a yellow card, which was changed to a red card in the following minute after a VAR review, leaving Sloga with one player less.

Velež tried to equalize – Ziljkić, Raca, and Milanović attempted, but none of the shots were precise enough. Erić intervened safely when it was most needed.

In the last ten minutes of the match, Sloga controlled the game against a now seemingly clueless Velež, who tried to score but could not create an ideal chance to threaten the home goalkeeper.

There was no change in the score until the end of the match, so Sloga recorded an important three points at the start of the new season, while Velež will have to seek their first win in the next round.

This was Doboj's first victory over Velež in three years, and the second overall against the Mostar team.
