TKDS FBiH signs contracts with top taekwondo athletes, hopes for medals at EYOF

(Patria) - The Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today ceremoniously signed financing contracts with the best competitors, with 19 athletes divided into four categories, in a total amount of 53,000 BAM.

Among the recipients of the funds are five seniors, and Nedžad Husić, Džejla Makaš, Ada Avdagić, Benjamin Husić and Erol Nući make up the group of the best taekwondo athletes, who will receive 5,000 BAM each through the "Olympic program".

The TKDS FBiH earlier this year already allocated 50,000 BAM for financing athletes. - If we add to the amount of 53,000 BAM the 30,000 BAM allocated for entry fees and athletes' travel to European tournaments, in order to collect necessary points, and 20,000 BAM for the participation of nine taekwondo athletes and one coach at this year's EYOF, the TKDS FBiH has so far this year allocated more than 100,000 BAM for financing athletes - emphasized the president of TKDS FBiH, Samir Šarić, at a press conference held at the Hotel Walter.

Šarić emphasized that as early as next year, the fund for the Olympic Games will increase, while the list of recipients of funds should narrow, because athletes are obliged to meet the result criteria and standards dictated by the contract.

The owner of the best result at the Olympic Games, Nedžad Husić, believes that the support of the Federation to athletes is extremely important.

- These contracts and finances will greatly benefit us athletes because participation in tournaments is very expensive. Not all of us have the opportunity to go to all tournaments because systemic support from the state is unfortunately lacking. Nevertheless, the Federation strives year after year to provide us with the best and most quality working conditions - said Nedžad Husić, fifth-place finisher from the Tokyo Olympics.

Preparations for the appearance at the EYOF have already begun, and according to the latest information, taekwondo athletes will make up a third of our Bosnian-Herzegovinian team that will compete in Skopje.

- All athletes are training at full strength in their clubs, and I must truly praise their engagement. We coaches strive to cooperate with the Federation in the best possible way. I expect that with maximum dedication we will achieve the desired results - said Hong Seung Ki, one of the coaches in our national team.

Young Nino Šeremet, who will go to the EYOF in Skopje as a scholarship holder of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is in enviable form, which is confirmed by his latest result - gold at the Austrian Open G1 tournament held about 15 days ago in Innsbruck, Austria.

- Expectations for the EYOF are high. I think we have good chances of winning medals because our ten-member team includes top fighters. I really believe we can achieve a good result - said Šeremet.

From the TKDS FBiH, they finally emphasized that they hope for support to continue work on the construction of the National Training Center in the "Safet Zajko" Center, which should certainly play a key role in the development of our taekwondo athletes in the future, and for whose completion about 400,000 BAM is missing.
