This is how Plenković sees it: Gas comes from Croatia, BiH Croats must have a key role in the South Interconnection pipeline

(patria) - In an interview with Mostar television HB, Andrej Plenković said that Brussels' decision to open negotiations is a great success for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prime Minister of Croatia boasted that he was in constant contact with everyone for those few days.
“The German Bundestag had to approve it, I had to talk to the Finnish Prime Minister, the Danish Prime Minister, the Swedish and Luxembourg Prime Ministers,” Plenković said, adding that they could all have had some reservations towards BiH.

He also specifically noted that the Dutch Prime Minister met with an initiative from opposition parties that were against BiH gaining negotiating status in parliament.

On the path to the EU, Plenković emphasizes that the election law is a priority.

“The election law is the foundation. For me as Prime Minister, and also for HDZ, it is crucial to resolve the issue of the legitimate representation of Croats in the Presidency. It all seems a bit ridiculous. I don't think that's good. It is a message of disrespect towards one of the three constituent peoples; a distortion of the spirit, letter, and agreements ultimately in Dayton,” Plenković points out.

Finally, he emphasized that one of the strategic projects for BiH Croats is the construction of the South Gas Interconnection.

“First and foremost, we want to enable BiH to stop being dependent on the supply of Russian gas through Serbia. The essence of this South Gas Interconnection, or rather our investment, is to extend the pipeline that goes from Zagvozd to Imotski, and from Imotski towards Grude. This is the part that Croatia will invest in because we want this part of BiH in the Federation of BiH to be gasified. We believe that, whatever solution is found in BiH, it should be a solution in which Croats, as a constituent people, given that the gas comes from Croatia to the area where Croats live in BiH, must have a key role. There are no dilemmas about that, and that is why we supported Dragan Čović,” Plenković concluded in the interview.
