Taekwondo Association of FBiH Sets Prize: 100,000 BAM for First Medal at Next Olympic Games

(Patria) - The Taekwondo Association of FBiH, at the last meeting of its Management Board held in Bugojno, adopted a conclusion that decided in the best possible way to motivate all senior national team members of our country who are members of the Federal Association, according to which a competitor who wins the first Olympic medal for BiH at the next Olympic Games will be guaranteed a cash prize in the amount of 100,000 BAM.

The same conclusion also regulates a cash prize for the coach of the athlete who wins the first Olympic medal for BiH. Whether for a bronze, silver or gold Olympic medal, the coach will be awarded 30,000 BAM.

- Although the Taekwondo Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has allocated significant funds for our best athletes in the past period and we are trying in every possible way to improve conditions for our competitors, the Management Board of the Association decided to additionally motivate them in this way so that they strive for even better results and ultimately reach the first Olympic medal for BiH, our great common desire and goal - said the president of TKDS FBiH, Samir Šarić.

Through the same conclusion, the Management Board of TKDS FBiH also determined the amount of cash prizes for the first senior medal at the next two world championships in Olympic taekwondo. Regardless of which medal it is, the athlete will receive a prize in the amount of 50,000 BAM, while the coach will receive 15,000 BAM.

So far, taekwondo has six European senior medals, while Nedžad Husić has been fifth at the world championship three times.

- Adopting such a conclusion was not easy, but we were united in making a step forward that would inspire our competitors, who have achieved excellent results in recent years, to strive for top results - added Šarić.

The decision, more precisely the conclusion of TKDS FBiH, on the prize for the first Olympic medal can be considered a major step forward on the Bosnian-Herzegovinian sports scene.

According to the Decree on amending the decree on determining criteria for awarding prizes to athletes, sports workers and sports associations from FBiH for achieved top sports results at international competitions, the Government of FBiH provides a prize in the amount of 50,000 BAM for Olympic gold, 30,000 BAM for silver and 20,000 BAM for bronze.

For a gold medal at the world championship, the same Decree provides a prize of 40,000 BAM, 20,000 BAM for a silver medal and 10,000 BAM for a bronze one.
