Swiss skier Von Allmen claims first victory in super-G at Wengen

(Patria) - Swiss skier Franjo Von Allmen achieved a surprising victory in the super-G held in Wengen, which was the 18th race of the Alpine Skiing World Cup season. For the 23-year-old Von Allmen, this is his first career triumph in the World Cup, and he managed to shine on the legendary Lauberhorn slope.

Von Allmen joined the group of Swiss skiers who have recorded maiden victories this season, joining Justin Murisier, winner of the downhill in Beaver Creek, and Alexis Monney, who triumphed in the downhill in Bormio. His victory was achieved with a ten-hundredth of a second advantage over Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr, while third place went to his compatriot Stefan Rogentin, 58 hundredths behind.

Swiss skier Marco Odermatt, leader in the overall World Cup standings, had a weaker performance and finished in seventh place, which is unusual by his standards. Nevertheless, Odermatt remains at the top of the overall standings with 766 points, ahead of Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen with 574 points, while third place is held by Swiss skier Loic Meillard with 482 points.

In the super-G standings, Odermatt leads with 241 points, while Kriechmayr trails by 19 points, and Norwegian Fredrik Moeller occupies third place with 220 points.

The upcoming challenges in Wengen include a downhill on Saturday, while a slalom will be held on Sunday, continuing the exciting World Cup season.
