Solemn welcome for Zakira Pušina, European shooting champion

(patria) - Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Kenan Magoda, and Minister for Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of KS Enda Pavić Pečenković today at Sarajevo International Airport solemnly welcomed Zakira Pušina, the European shooting champion, who has made history for BiH sports by winning the first gold medal for our country at the European Championship.

At the competition held in Tallinn, Zakira Pušina, a representative of BiH and a member of the Shooting Club “Sarajevo”, excelled in the air rifle discipline in the U16 category. At just 15 years old, with incredible concentration and top-notch precision, Zakira won gold, becoming a symbol of the talent and perseverance of Bosnian-Herzegovinian youth.

This success is even more significant because Zakira had also won a bronze medal in the same discipline the day before, confirming her status as one of the best shooters in our country of all time.

“Congratulations, Zakira, on this outstanding success. Your effort, dedication, and talent have brought immense joy to the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, showing that our country has great potential in shooting. This success is also the result of the professional work of the coaches at the Shooting Club “Sarajevo”. The Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS proudly celebrates our champions and continues to provide support, which will be even more significant in the future,” said Minister Magoda.

He further emphasized that this success is a reason for pride, but also a call for the necessary systemic support for the development of sports in our country.

“We must all together provide support to young talents on their path to the top,” said Minister Magoda.

In addition to Zakira, Amir Memišević, also a member of the Shooting Club “Sarajevo”, had an excellent performance, taking eighth place in the same discipline and setting a new national record of 410.4 points.
