DAMAGE DONE Referee Jelić suspended until the end of the season

(Patria) - The Committee for Referees and Refereeing of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided to suspend referee Frano Jelić until the end of the current season after his controversial decisions in the Mostar derby between Zrinjski and Velež.

Yesterday, Jelić directly influenced the outcome of the match at the Pod Bijelim brijegom stadium when he allowed the goal scored by Karlo Abramović, even though Nemanja Bilbija had previously handled the ball. VAR referees signaled an irregularity and called the main referee to review the footage, but he, despite clear evidence, pointed to the center, allowing Zrinjski to win 1-0 and secure three points.

The decision to suspend was made after an urgent telephone session of the Committee for Referees and Refereeing, which was held immediately after the match. However, the penalty could not be imposed before the referee observer Radoslav Vukasović submitted his official report. After he did so, the Committee decided to suspend Jelić until the end of the season.

This decision comes at a time when refereeing in the Premier League of BiH has been causing numerous controversies for a long time, and the question of the regularity of the competition is once again in the public spotlight.
