Serbian Minister Ristić Denied Entry to Kosovo

(Patria) - The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications of Serbia announced that the Kosovo authorities have banned the Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Dejan Ristić, from entering the territory of Kosovo.

According to their statement, the reason for the Serbian minister's planned visit to Kosovo was to attend the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the weekly newspaper "Jedinstvo", the only printed media in the Serbian language in Kosovo, which was to be held today at the House of Culture in Gračanica.

"Although the minister's visit to Kosovo was announced in a timely manner in accordance with the established procedure, it was banned one hour before the scheduled time for crossing the administrative line," the statement said.

They added that the ban on entry and stay in the territory of Kosovo for the minister responsible for public information "represents another undisguised example of the violation of the right to free movement, freedom of public information, and freedom of expression of members of the Serbian people in Kosovo".

The Ministry called on the international community to strongly condemn this, as they stated, anti-democratic decision.
