(Patria) - After only six competitors competed, the FIS World Cup women's downhill race in Crans-Montani was interrupted for safety reasons. The competition was opened by Austrian skier Nina Ortlieb, but she lost her line in the first sector and ended up in the safety net. Romane Miradoli then finished the race with a time of 1:15.60, but the very next skier, Marte Monsen, had a serious fall.
The race resumed with the descent of Jacqueline Wiles and Corinne Suter, after which, in the first part of the course, even the most experienced and leader in the discipline standings, Lindsey Vonn, lost control.
In addition to the difficult weather conditions, which also prevented the second official training session from taking place, today's downhill also showed an extremely difficult course setting, which did not allow the competitors to cope with the already severe challenges of nature.
The world's fastest skiers, including Bosnia and Herzegovina's best alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija, will compete in the Super-G discipline in Crans-Montana tomorrow, starting at 11 AM, and this will be the last FIS World Cup race before the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which will be officially opened with a ceremony on February 6th.
