Even Dončić's 39 not enough for Slovenia: Germans advance to EuroBasket semifinals

(Patria) - The German national basketball team has advanced to the semifinals of EuroBasket.

The Germans defeated Slovenia 99:91 tonight in Riga after a hard-fought battle.

The Slovenians controlled the score for most of the game but faltered in the final quarter, which they lost by 12 points (17:29).

In the final minutes, the reigning world champions showed stronger nerves and ultimately celebrated a 99:91 victory.

For the winning team, Franz Wagner was the top scorer with 23 points, followed by Dennis Schroder with 20 points.

Not even a fantastic performance by Luka Dončić (39 points) could help the Slovenians avoid defeat and elimination from EuroBasket.

The semifinal pairings of the European Championship have thus been completed: Germany plays against Finland, and Turkey against Greece.

Both matches are scheduled for Friday.
