Sloga wins at Grbavica with a late goal

(Patria) - Sarajevo's Željezničar and Sloga from Doboj played the first match of the BiH Cup quarter-finals today at Grbavica.

A modest football performance, to say the least, ended with a victory for the visitors with a goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time, writes Sportsport.ba.

After three consecutive league defeats, Željo was left without a coach, so the team was led by interim coach Dino Đurbuzović against Sloga.

However, the players in blue jerseys again looked sluggish, powerless, and uninspired... Their opponents on the other side didn't look much better, but they still managed to win.

A very poor match at Grbavica was marked by numerous tackles and fouls. Matej Cvetanoski suffered a serious injury from one such foul and was taken to the hospital by ambulance in the first half.

In the first 45 minutes, apart from that, there was almost nothing worth mentioning, only a few weak attempts from both sides, but no clear chances.

The second half didn't bring much either. It seemed as if the home team was more concrete and offensive, but they couldn't create a chance.

Alić shot powerfully from a free kick in the 52nd minute, but it went wide of the left post of former Željezničar goalkeeper Erić. Alić then crossed from a corner in the 55th minute, Krpić tried a header from eight meters, but Erić was safe.

Željezničar had its period, attacking, but not enough to score against the visitors from Doboj, who were completely focused on defending their goal in the second half.

In the 66th minute, we noted a clumsy shot from Galčev, which Erić easily saved. Later, Pejić also shot poorly, high over the goal.

The home team attacked more and more as the end approached, and they came closest to scoring in the 79th minute. Odinaka crossed, Erić intervened somewhat clumsily and deflected the ball onto the post, and then Božičković cleared it off the goal line at the last moment.

At the very end, Sloga unexpectedly scored and has a significant advantage before the second leg. Jović came one-on-one with Muftić in the fifth minute of stoppage time and beat him after a mistake by the home team's defense.

Loyal fans of Željezničar, the popular Manijaci, left Grbavica at halftime in protest against Arena Sport and unpopular match times.

All in all, a poor performance by the Blues, and the semi-finalist will be decided in Doboj in seven days. Before that, Željo has a tough match at home against Zrinjski in the league, while Sloga will visit Široki Brijeg.

In an earlier match (at 1:00 PM), Laktaši also won their BiH Cup quarter-final match against Radnik from Bijeljina with a score of 2:0. The goal scorers for the home team were Srđan Bašić (in the 14th and 77th minutes).
