Nearly record turnout in Croatia, not seen since 2000

(Patria) - Parliamentary elections for the 11th convocation of the Croatian Parliament are being held today. At 7 a.m., more than 6,500 polling stations opened, where voting will be possible until 7 p.m., when the election silence ends.

Nearly 750,000 voters, or almost a quarter of them, voted in the morning hours of the elections. That is 130,000 more voters than in the elections four years ago at the same time.

In July 2020, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, 18.09 percent of voters, or 620,000 of them, turned out at the same time, while today in the morning hours, 747,986 voted.

The best turnout is in the 1st, 3rd and 6th electoral districts, and the weakest in the 5th, 9th and 10th electoral districts.

According to the data, a similar turnout was recorded only in 2000. Since at that time it was recorded until 11 a.m., it can be concluded that the turnout in 2000 until 11:30 a.m. was slightly higher than today.
