(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina sitting volleyball team made an excellent start in the Nations League, held in Germany, recording three convincing wins against the teams of Croatia, Ukraine, and hosts Germany.
Coach Ifet Mahmutović's players opened the competition with a confident 3:0 victory over Croatia (25:17, 25:18, 25:13), without major issues.
In the second match against Ukraine, the Bosnian team unexpectedly lost the first set but quickly regrouped and turned the match in their favor – 3:1 (17:25, 25:14, 25:12, 25:5).
The biggest challenge so far came in the third match against the German national team, which put up strong resistance in the first set. However, after a tight finish (26:24), the Bosnia and Herzegovina team continued in a dominant rhythm and won 3:0 overall (26:24, 25:16, 25:22).
One of the tournament's most prominent individuals, captain Ermin Jusufović, expressed satisfaction with the performance so far:
– We are generally satisfied, it was good. We are finding our rhythm, given that we had minor issues in the first set against the strongest opponents, and even lost the first set against Ukraine. But we achieved three important wins against teams that will be our main competitors at the upcoming European Championship – said Jusufović, adding that he expects maximum effort against the next opponents as well.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina team continues the competition today with a match against Poland (14:15), and later tonight they face Turkey (20:30). After the group stage, placement matches will be played according to the final standings – for first, third, and fifth place.
The team's goal is clear: reaching the final and fighting for the title – from the top position.
